Mahindra Verito CS to be launched in March 2013
The Indian car maker Mahindra is preparing to launch the sub-4 meter version of it’s sedan, Verito. The new compact sedan from Mahindra is being dubbed as the Verito CS and now, it has been confirmed by Dr. Pawan Goenka, President and CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive arm, that the car would make it’s way to the showrooms by March, next year.
With the upcoming Mahindra Verito CS, the company would be competing against the likes of Indigo CS, which is already a great value for money offering from Tata and Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which is the hottest selling sub-4 meter sedan in the Indian market at present. The compact sedan market in the country is already heated up with Honda announcing it’s compact sedan, the Amaze, which will be launched in India during mid-2013.
The Verito CS would basically be a chopped-off version of the Verito, and will be priced Rs.30,000-40,000 less than the existing variant, as the Verito CS will enjoy a lesser, only 10 percent excise duty as opposed to 22 percent excise duty, which is applicable to any car longer than 4 meters. This will be Mahindra’s second sub-4 meter car after the Quanto.
It is expected that the front of the car will be more or less similar to the Verito while a majority of the changes would be made at the rear as it will get a shorter boot-lid and a redesigned tail section. It is expected that the car will retain it’s interior features which would help it in being touted as a VFM car.
The 1.5-liter K9K diesel engine, which powers the Verito will as it is make it’s way to the Verito CS as well. The price of this upcoming compact sedan is expected to be in line with that of the Indigo eCS, so as to make it a great option for the price-conscious buyer.
