Nissan Motor India has launched an EMI scheme in India, which it claims will slash customers’ monthly outflow by up to 40%.
In this scheme, the EMI on the Nissan Micra (petrol and diesel) and the Nissan Sunny (diesel) would be Rs 8,999 on a three-year loan.
Customers have an option to choose a down payment of 34% on the on road price of the car or to exchange their old car and get an additional exchange bonus of up to Rs 50,000, said by Nissan itself.
Customers can also extend the scheme to include the customised EMI plan for 36 months. The offer is valid till April 30, 2013.
Nissan has tied up with most of all leading auto financiers like Tata Capital, HDFC, ICICI Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Nissan has launched a special edition variant of its best seller, the Sunny, in India. The special edition Sunny is available in both the petrol and diesel trims in XV grade and is priced at Rs 8.60 and Rs 9.68 lakh ex-Delhi respectively.

The changes from the regular Sunny include side body mouldings, a reverse camera and chrome-plated trunk detailing. Inside, there are leather seats, a new 2 DIN touchscreen audio system with Bluetooth and USB compatibility. Mechanically there are no changes which means under the hood you get a pair of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines.

Nitish Tipnis, director - sales & marketing of Nissan's national sales company in India - Hover Automotive India - said, Sunny has been a success in India right from the time of its launch in September 2011 and the car has continued to be a popular choice amongst customers in the mid-sized sedan segment. The launch of this special edition is a 'thank you' to our customers for making Sunny such a success. We hope to further delight them with the generous range of enhancements on offer and, as you would expect from Nissan, the addition of even more advanced technology.

Plans to launch Sunny and Micra with CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) are in place and Nissan will launch them sooner than expected. Recently, Renault launched Scala with CVT in India. A CVT engine provides smooth running and at the same time helps to conserve fuel consumption to a great extent.

To help meet needs of customers in India, Nissan and Renault have jointly set up a manufacturing facility at Oragadam, near Chennai. This facility has an annual capacity of producing 4 lakh vehicles. Nissan is looking to increase number of CVT equipped vehicles sold from a current 12,000 to 20,000 units on a global basis. Nissan fans in India will be in for a treat as the brand hopes to launch an entry level Datsun sedan for Indian markets in 2014. Under the Datsun brand, Nissan will offer two small cars, one in the price range of INR 3 lakhs and the other in the range of INR 5 lakhs.
Nissan India is also improving its dealer network. Their aim is to have 300 dealerships across India by 2016.

Japanese auto maker Nissan Motor India has raised prices across three of its models in India by 1.5-2.5 percent, effective Feb 1.

The price of Nissan's hatchback Micra goes up by 1.5 percent, mid-size sedan Sunny will be expensive by 2 percent and price of utility vehicle Evalia has been raised by 2.5 percent.

"The price rise is to offset rising input costs and also ease the impact of currency fluctutation," said Nitish Tipnis, director - sales & marketing, Hover Automotive India. Hover is Nissan's national sales company in India.

Nissan's Korean rival Hyundai Motor India had on Friday raised prices of all its models by Rs 4,201-Rs 20,878, also citing rising input costs and currency fluctuation.

India's largest passenger car maker Maruti Suzuki had raised prices by up to Rs 20,000 last month.

Nissan Motors is planning to launch a new entry level car under Datsun brand to tap the first time car buyers.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Chief Operating Officer of Nissan Toshiyuki Shiga said, “The car will be sold at a cost of  Rs 4 lakh and the aim is to attract those who want to buy their first car,” adding the car would appeal to the local market in India and Indonesia. (Also read: Anil Ambani: A look at the man, his career and his life)
Nissan is also planning to launch compact sports utility vehicle besides fuel-efficient continuously variable transmission (CVT) Micra and Sunny. Interestingly, this all comes in the wake of Nissan’s growth in China being hit over China-Japan conflict over ownership of some Islands.
“We are targeting 10% of Indian car market share by 2016 and has plans to increase our dealership from 95 to 300 in India,” he said.
The company is also planning to expand its capacity. Takayuki Ishida, MD and CEO at Nissan Motor India said the company is studying options of setting up the expansion plant in or outside Tamil Nadu.(Coming soon: New Skoda Octavia to hit Indian shores in 2013)
Currently, the Franco-Japanese automotive JV Renault Nissan Automotive India plant has a total capacity of 400,000 units on three shift basis and caters to the needs of Nissan and Renault.
